"Kodak
has been an important part of my photographic life - they have always
given me their new film to test, and I have used their products in my workshops
internationally. We've always had a very pleasant professional relationship. I
admire the fact that Kodak has a continuing commitment to education, something
which is very important to me as well. They sponsor a series of lectures by photographers
at art and photo schools nationally to inspire the younger students. This is something
that is really important, it is a commitment to the future generation of creativity.
Kodak has been a real partner with me in this mutual interest. "

In this latest edition of Legends Online, PDN and Kodak Professional present
a gallery of 22 compelling portraits from celebrated photographer Joyce Tenneson's
most recent book,
Light Warriors [Bulfinch Press, 2000]. With this series of images, Tenneson
continues her journey to find her own deeper essence by documenting the quest
of other spiritual warriors, all of whom she describes as friends who arrived
from many directions. "These women, whose ages range from 20 to 50, are from many
different countries and cultures. To me they are pilgrimsthey express emotions
or dimensions that surround us at different stages in life."
Tenneson has always been fascinated by the workings of the female psyche, a theme
which has been the driving force behind most of her photography for the past 25
years, and continues to dominate her current work, particularly Light Warriors.
Our site offers an easy-to-navigate look at the images from Tenneson's latest
book in a Gallery section, as well as a brief Biography
of the artist, an Interview which features
examples of some of Tenneson's assignment work, and Video
