Gail Devers
In many cases, rather than photograph their entire bodies, McNally isolated relevant or symbolic areas of the athletes' bodies:

"In the case of Gail Devers, the picture came about in a very informal way. I had photographed her legs and then I said to her, 'Is there anything else? What is the other source of your strength?' She had these amazing nails and she just made this bicep and I said, 'I think maybe we should photograph that.'
