I shot this model originally for a fashion feature in Sportswear International magazine. The Workbook has a promo called “About Face,” featuring black- and-white images, very large and focused on faces. The spread was to be 19 x 28 inches. I wanted a very powerful image with qualities that worked with black and white and paper that was not too fine. I decided to create this highly textured gritty etchinglike image. “About Face” is shipping now but I haven't seen it yet. I used a Macintosh G4/500 Dual, Photoshop and made the scans on an Imacon Precision 2 scanner.
