I created this somewhat nightmarish self-portrait as a self-promotional piece. I have been working on a series of these fantastical portraits, which portray different characters. The inspiration comes partly from the work of the 16th-century Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo who made allegorical portraits using various objects. I have a loose idea of what I am after, but typically I allow the work to evolve as it is created. All the initial photography for this image was shot with a Nikon Coolpix 990 camera. I then manipulated the imagery in Photoshop on my G4 Power Mac workstation.
