 uthor, filmmaker, photographer, and adventurer, Karin Muller set out seven years ago with little more than a backpack and a camera to travel the world's historic highways. Her first expedition took her to the Ho Chi Minh
Trail in Vietnam — a journey that would eventually lead her from the Mekong Delta to the border of China. She returned home only long enough to produce a PBS television special, Hitchhiking Vietnam, and a companion book (Globe Pequot Press) by the same name. Then it was off to the Inca Road, a four-thousand-mile trek from Quito to Santiago resulting in an acclaimed international television series (Along the Inca Road) for National Geographic and a book published by the Adventure Press. Karin's latest venture took her to Japan, where she lived with a pre-Buddhist mountain ascetic cult, joined a samurai-mounted archery team, and completed a 1,300-kilometer pilgrimage around the country's fourth-largest island.
