
he Ayeyarwaddy River was called
"the Road to Mandalay" because it was the chief route from Yangon in the days when the only
other alternative was elephant and ox cart. During the dry season, copious dust creates vivid pink and
orange sunsets; this shot is unfiltered. I chose an exposure short enough to freeze the boat and its
occupants, but long enough to show some motion and gather the soft light as it slipped beneath the horizon.
