Ashley Gilbertson grew up in Melbourne, Australia where from the age of thirteen, he photographed skateboarding that somehow led to an interest in social issues. He began working internationally in the late 1990's studying displaced people and civil unrest throughout Asia. After photographing returning Albanians in Kosovo, Ashley has focused on conflict and displacement in countries such as Afghanistan, Iran, and most recently, Iraq. Ashley is repped by Aurora photo agency.
