DAVID BAILEY
photographed by Barry Lategan, January 2000
Bailey is pungent. He's always had a strong point of view. He's constantly photographing. He's a constant looker. And he always has a naughty look in his eye. He once said, "The trouble with a reputation is that you get known more for your reputation than what you do." I think he's as innovative as as he always was - not necessarily by changing the technique but by putting his signature on things. The signature isn't evident in the style, it's in the thought, "Ah, this is what he thinks about this person."
